Profile Holes & Site Evaluation

Before installing or upgrading a septic system, it’s essential to understand the unique characteristics of your property. Our Profile Holes & Site Evaluation service is the first step in ensuring a properly designed and code-compliant septic system tailored to your land.

What’s Included in the Process:

1. Initial Site Assessment

We start by visiting your property to assess the layout, slope, vegetation, and access. This helps us determine ideal testing locations and identify any challenges early on.

2. Digging Profile Holes

Using excavation equipment, we dig two or more profile holes (ideally 5–8 feet deep) in the proposed leach field area. These allow us—and the county inspector—to evaluate soil layers and drainage potential firsthand.

3. Soil Evaluation

We examine the soil’s texture, structure, and depth to groundwater or bedrock. The quality of your soil determines how well your septic system can filter and treat wastewater.

4. Percolation Testing (if required)

In some counties, a percolation (perc) test is needed to measure how quickly water drains through your soil. If required, we will refer to you our reliable soil scientist who will conduct the tests.

5. Documentation & Reporting

The soil scientist present will provide detailed notes of each profile hole, and documentation of findings to support septic design approval. These profiles will be logged in the county records and referenced on your approved set of plans.

6. Collaboration with County Inspector

We coordinate directly with your county’s environmental health department to schedule inspections and ensure your project meets local health codes.

This thorough evaluation ensures your system is designed for long-term performance and environmental safety—avoiding costly issues down the road. Whether you're building new or replacing an aging system, we take pride in getting it right from the ground up.
